Inside the Numbers: Dolphins lose 31-6 in Cleveland

Miami lost Sunday in Cleveland 31-6 to fall to 1-6 on the season. We go Inside the Numbers, presented by BDO, to look at the most notable individual metrics, milestones and more from the Dolphins loss in rainy Cleveland.

Another milestone for Achane

Running back De'Von Achane continues to stand out. Sunday, he surpassed the 1,000-career receiving yardage mark as he caught three passes for 16 yards. Achane, who surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards last week against the Chargers, is the first player in franchise history to total 2,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in his first 35 games.

More than half of Achane's 82 rushing yards came on one play, a 46-yard scamper in the first quarter. It was the 10th run of at least 40 yards in his career, the most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2023.

Run defense emerges

The Dolphins held the Browns to 104 rushing yards on Sunday, the lowest total allowed by Miami this season. The Dolphins' defense produced a season-high nine tackles for loss, the most since the Week 12 game in 2023 against the New York Jets.

Linebacker Jordyn Brooks had nine tackles, including one behind the line-of-scrimmage. Fellow linebacker Tyrel Dodson recorded eight tackles and his third sack of the season.

In total, Miami's defense allowed a season-low 206 yards to the Browns.

Phillips' milestone sack

Fifth-year linebacker outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips sacked Dillon Gabriel in the fourth quarter on Sunday. It was the 25th sack of his career, the second most by a Dolphin since he was drafted in 2021 (Zach Sieler, 25.5 sacks).

Milestones and Achievements

Rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers made his NFL debut completing five-of-eight passes for 53 yards. His biggest completion was a 40-yard deep-shot to wide receiver Dee Eskridge in the fourth quarter.
