The Dolphins fell 28-15 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Miami trailed by four going into halftime, but the Steelers exploded with four consecutive touchdown drives to pull away late. The Dolphins made a late surge but fell short despite sterling performances from running back De'Von Achane, linebacker Jordyn Brooks and tight end Darren Waller.
We go Inside the Numbers, presented by BDO, to look at the most notable individual metrics, milestones and more from the Dolphins loss in Pittsburgh.
Achane keeps rolling
Achane tallied 60 rushing yards and 68 receiving for a total of 128 yards from scrimmage. It was the ninth time this season Achane surpassed 100 yards from scrimmage, which is tied for third most in the NFL this season. It's the third time in franchise history that a player has produced nine games of more than 100 yards from scrimmage trailing only Ricky Williams in 2002 (12) and 2003 (10).
Achane has 1,637 yards from scrimmage this season, fifth-most in the NFL.
Brooks surpasses 800 career tackles
Brooks continues to add to his outstanding 2025 campaign. His 13-tackle night brought his career total to 810. Brooks is one of just five players since 2000 to total 800-plus tackles in his first six seasons in the NFL, joining Roquan Smith (850), Luke Kuechly (818), Patrick Willis (812) and Foyesade Oluokun (811).
Brooks' two tackles for loss helped him set a single-season career high of 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, surpassing his personal best of 11 set last season. One of those tackles for loss was a sack of Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Brooks has 3.5 sacks on the season, marking his third-straight year with 3.0-plus sacks.
Waller scores twice
Waller scored two touchdowns Monday night giving him six for the season. He tied wide receiver Jaylen Waddle for the team lead in touchdowns despite playing in just seven games this year. He is also tied for the fourth-most touchdown receptions among tight ends in the NFL this season.
Waller's 66 receiving yards were his most since totaling 98 yards in 2023 vs. Washington when he was a member of the New York Giants. Monday marked Waller's second game this season with multiple receiving touchdowns (Week 4 vs. the Jets). He is the first tight end in franchise history to have multiple games with at least two receiving touchdowns.
Milestones and achievements
Rookie defensive tackle Zeek Biggers tallied the first full sack of his career when he brought down Rodgers in the fourth quarter.
Fellow defensive tackle Zach Sieler recorded another sack, giving him 4.5 on the season and 3.5 sacks in the last two games.
Kicker Riley Patterson connected on his lone field goal attempt from 54 yards in the second quarter, setting a career long. He is 24-of-26 on field goal attempts this season, a 92.3 percentage.
