Training Camp Preview 2025: Offensive Line

A brand-new season of Dolphins football is around the corner and we're getting you ready for the start of training camp!

Over the next week, we'll be looking at the entirety of the Dolphins 91-man roster and providing a cheat sheet for when the action begins at the Baptist Health Training Complex.

In an offensive system that features a quarterback with one of the quickest releases in the game while emphasizing running off the football to the perimeter, there aren't a ton of true drop back pass sets to go around nor downhill blocking reps. However, when the offense is faced with adversity or anything that would require an adjustment to the norm, this group is more than equipped to handle it.

Stalwart left tackle Terron Armstead announced his retirement this offseason, but Miami was proactive in unearthing his replacement. The Dolphins selected the 6-foot-7, light-footed, 330-pound Patrick Paul out of Houston in 2024. He played 338 snaps for the Dolphins during his rookie season, oozing potential in the process. He'll slot in at left tackle while Miami is thrilled to get Austin Jackson back at the other bookend. The run game splits with and without Jackson in 2024 are telling. With Jackson in the lineup, Miami averaged 153 yards per game on the ground. Without, just 72.4 per contest. Jackson has become the quintessential tackle in a Mike McDaniel system with premiere athletic ability and a temperament that thrives on bully ball.

The entirety of the Dolphins projected starting interior fits the bill of Jackson. Aaron Brewer played every offensive snap last year in the pivot. His tape is full of highlight reel blocks down field and on the edge. Alongside Brewer figure to be a pair of newcomers in James Daniels and rookie Jonah Savaiinaea. Both players glide off the football and can push the wig back of the opposing line. Daniels and Savaiinaea play in the 320- to 325-pound range, and rank in the 85th percentile or better in explosive and running metrics from their respective Scouting Combine workouts – plenty of size and speed!

The Dolphins will use August to sort out the rest of the group, and the options are aplenty. One of the first signings of free agency was versatile lineman Larry Borom, who played guard and tackle in Chicago and featured his best tape when attaching to blocks at the second level and outside the hash marks.

Veteran Liam Eichenberg returns for his fifth season. He has started games at all five positions for the Dolphins throughout his career and is a picture of durability. Hoping to challenge for a swing spot, akin to Eichenberg, is last year's camp darling Kion Smith. Progressing up the depth chart since he was a practice squad player in 2022, Smith cross-trained at guard last summer and was playing his best football before an injury wiped out his 2024 campaign.

Offensive Line Coach Butch Barry enters his third season with Miami. Since his arrival, Miami has uncovered breakout players, developed late-round talent and found its identity as a unit.

Andrew Meyer comes equipped with position flexibility. A natural center, Meyer can play both guard spots, too. He made the roster as an undrafted rookie in 2024 but never saw the field, thanks in large part to Brewer's durability.

Jackson Carman and Braedan Daniels were late-season additions last year and are looking to make their mark in 2025. Ryan Hayes was an original draft pick by Miami in 2023. He spent some time on the Colts practice squad in his first season but later returned to Miami.

Undrafted rookies Josh Priebe, Addison West and Ted Kushi round out the room alongside International Pathway Player Bayron Matos.

The Dolphins will be back on the field next week, and you can be in the stands at the Baptist Health Training Complex starting Saturday, July 26. Parking and admission are free, but tickets must be reserved. Learn more here.
