The Dolphins kicked off the 2025 regular season in Indianapolis, where they fell 33-8 against the Colts.
We go Inside the Numbers, presented by BDO, to take a look at the most notable individual metrics, milestones and more from Miami's season opener.
Tackling Machines
Linebackers Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson delivered a respectable performance on Sunday. The duo combined for 27 total tackles, with Brooks leading the team with14 stops (five solo) while Dodson tallied 13 tackles (six solo). It was the second time since 2000 the Dolphins have had two players with at least 13 tackles in a game and the first time since Jevón Holland and DeShon Elliott did so in 2023 at the L.A. Chargers.
Brooks's 14 tackles were his most as a Dolphin and his most since he had 16 for Seattle against Las Vegas in 2022.
Achane Scores Again
De'Von Achane, who led all NFL running backs in 2024 with six touchdown receptions, picked up where he left off as he powered across the goal line for Miami's lone score. It was Achane's tenth career receiving touchdown, which is the most among running backs since he entered the NFL in 2023.
Achane rushed for 7.9 yards per carry and the team posted 6.5 yards per rush, their best mark since averaging 9.7 yards per carry against the New York Giants in 2023
Welcome Back, Bradley
In his first game in over 20 months, outside linebacker Bradley Chubb picked up a sack. The sack put Chubb over 40 for his career (40.5 sacks). Going back to 2023, Chubb has recorded 5.5 sacks in his last four games played.
800 Club for Tyreek
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught four passes for 40 yards, giving him 802 career receptions. He's the 42nd player in NFL history with 800 or more career receptions and one of just four players (Davante Adams, Travis Kelce and Stefon Diggs), with 800 or more catches since 2016, the year Hill entered the NFL.
NFL Debuts
A season-opener means an NFL debut for all rookies who saw action. For the Dolphins, defensive tackles Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips, offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea, safety Dante Trader Jr., cornerback Jason Marshall Jr., and running back Ollie Gordon II all made their NFL debuts.
