Dolphins Awarded Cornerback Tae Hayes Off Waivers

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have been awarded cornerback Tae Hayes off waivers from Jacksonville and placed defensive tackle Gerald Willis on injured reserve.

Hayes played in one game for Jacksonville prior to being waived on Dec. 12, 2019. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Jacksonville on April 28, 2019 and spent eight games on the team's practice squad before he was promoted to the active roster on Oct. 29, 2019. Hayes was a four-year letterman (2015-18) at Appalachian State, where he was a second-team All-Sun Belt selection as a senior in 2018.

Tae Hayes

Willis played in two games for the Dolphins this season and totaled two assisted tackles. He spent 10 games on Miami's practice squad earlier this season after he was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 2, 2019. Willis originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Baltimore on May 3, 2019. He earned second-team All-ACC honors as a senior in 2018 at the University of Miami.
