The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have signed running back Donovan Edwards to the active roster off Washington's practice squad and placed tight end Darren Waller on the injured reserve list. The team also released cornerback Clarence Lewis from the practice squad.
Edwards entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the New York Jets in 2025 and spent the offseason program and training camp with the team. He also spent the season on the practice squad with Washington. Edwards played collegiately at Michigan (2021-24), where he appeared in 50 career games with 14 starts and recorded 422 rushing attempts for 2,251 yards (5.3 avg.) and 19 touchdowns. He also added 86 receptions for 797 yards (9.3 avg.) and four touchdowns.
Lewis entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Tennessee in 2025. He played the final year of his collegiate career at Syracuse (2024), where he started all 13 games and recorded 41 tackles (27 solo), one tackle for loss, 12 pass breakups and an interception. Prior to Syracuse, he spent four seasons at Notre Dame (2020-23), appearing in 51 games with 23 starts and recording 124 tackles (104 solo), 1.0 sack, four tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 18 pass breakups and three interceptions with one returned for a touchdown.
Waller has appeared in 95 career games with 66 starts in nine seasons with Baltimore (2015-16), Oakland/Las Vegas (2018-22), the New York Giants (2023) and Miami (2025) and has recorded 374 receptions for 4,407 yards (11.8 avg.) and 26 touchdowns in his career. In 2025, he played in 9 games with 3 starts for Miami, tallying 24 receptions for 283 yards (11.8 avg.) and six touchdowns. He entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (204th overall) by Baltimore in the 2015 NFL Draft after a collegiate career at Georgia Tech (2011-14), where he appeared in 50 games with 22 starts in four seasons with the Yellow Jackets and recorded 51 receptions for 971 yards (19.0 avg.) and nine touchdowns.
