Dolphins Make Roster Moves

The Miami Dolphins announced today they have signed kicker Riley Patterson to the active roster off the practice squad and placed cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. on the injured reserve list.

Marshall Jr. has appeared in three career games with Miami (2025) and has recorded three tackles (two solo). He entered the NFL as a fifth-round selection (150th overall) by Miami in the 2025 NFL Draft. Marshall Jr. played collegiately at Florida (2021-24), where he was a four-year starter. He appeared in 45 games with 39 starts and tallied 98 tackles (68 solo), 1.0 sack, two interceptions, 27 passes defensed and one forced fumble in four seasons with the Gators. A Miami native, Marshall Jr. attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School, where he was a first-team all-state selection.

Patterson has appeared in 47 career games in five seasons with Detroit (2021, 2023), Jacksonville (2022), Cleveland (2023-24), the New York Jets (2024), Atlanta (2024) and Miami (2025). He was originally signed to Miami's practice squad on Aug. 27, 2025, and played in the first three games of the season, going two-for-two on field goal attempts and six-for-six on extra points. Patterson has converted 65-of-76 career field goal attempts (85.5 pct.), along with 115-of-119 extra points (96.6 pct.). He has also appeared in three postseasons contests with Jacksonville in 2022 and Cleveland in 2023. Patterson entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Minnesota in 2021. He played collegiately at Memphis (2017-20), where he appeared in 52 career games, converting 64-of-83 field goal attempts (77.1 pct) in four seasons with the Tigers.
