Douglas named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Miami Dolphins cornerback Rasul Douglas has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday's game against the Jets, the NFL announced Wednesday.

It is the third AFC Defensive Player of the Week accolade of his career and the third for Miami this season as linebacker Jordyn Brooks earned the award in both Weeks 8 and 11. The Dolphins are the only team in the NFL with three Defensive Player of the Week recognitions this year. Additionally, the Dolphins have been recognized on offense, as running back De'Von Achane was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November last week.

Douglas tallied a league-leading five passes defensed, along with two tackles and recorded an interception for the second week in a row in Week 14 against the Jets. He is the only defender in the AFC to record five passes defensed and an interception in a game this season and the first Dolphins player to do so since Eric Rowe in 2020.

The Dolphins held the Jets to 10 points, 207 total yards and only one third down conversion on 12 attempts (8.3 pct.), with two of Douglas's five passes defensed and his interception occurring on third down.

It was Miami's fourth-consecutive win and its fifth in the last six games. The Dolphins lead the league in points allowed per game (13.3), while ranking second in takeaways (10) and third in third down defense (30.8 pct.) since the start of the team's four-game win streak in Week 10.

Douglas, who signed with Miami prior to the start of the 2025 season, has appeared in 11 games with nine starts and has recorded 44 tackles (29 solo), 1.0 sack, two interceptions, 11 passes defensed and one forced fumble this season. He leads the team in both passes defensed and interceptions.
