Scouting Report

NEW YORK'S RECORD: 1-0

LAST GAME: Won 48-17 at Detroit

OVERVIEW: It was quite the season opener for the Jets, who went to Ford Field and dominated the Lions in rookie quarterback Sam Darnold's first NFL start. Things didn't start off very well for Darnold, who threw a pick-six on his first attempt, but he rebounded impressively. Darnold ended up going 16-for-21 for 198 yards and two touchdowns, good for a passer rating of 116.8. He got a lot of help from a running game that produced 169 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown by Isaiah Crowell, as well as a defense that came up with five interceptions. Linebacker Darron Lee, who played with Dolphins linebackers Raekwon McMillan and Jerome Baker at Ohio State, returned the first of his two interceptions for a touchdown. The Jets also got a touchdown on a punt return, a 78-yard score by Andre Roberts.

KEY NEW FACES: QB Sam Darnold (draft-1st round), DL Nathan Shepherd (draft-3rd), WR Terrell Pryor, C Spencer Long (Washington), RB Isaiah Crowell (Cleveland), LB Avery Williamson (Tennessee), CB Trumaine Johnson (L.A. Rams), K Jason Myers (Jacksonville), WR/RS Andre Roberts (Atlanta)
