Dolphins Make Roster Moves

The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have signed running backs Mike Boone and Aaron Shampklin. The team also waived wide receiver Monaray Baldwin and placed running back Alexander Mattison on the injured reserve list.

Baldwin signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 9, 2025. He played collegiately at Baylor (2021-24), where he appeared in 44 career games with 12 starts. He recorded 99 receptions for 1,673 yards (16.9 avg.) and 13 touchdowns, along with 19 carries for 178 rushing yards and two touchdowns in four seasons with the Bears. In 2022, Baldwin was a fourth-team All-Big 12 selection by Phil Steele and earned Academic All-Big 12 honors.

Boone has appeared in 72 career games with two starts in seven seasons with Minnesota (2018-20), Denver (2021-22), Houston (2023) and Carolina (2024). He has recorded 117 carries for 590 yards (5.0 avg.) and four touchdowns, in addition to 26 receptions for 184 yards (7.1 avg.). Boone also appeared in two postseason games with the Vikings in 2019. He entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Minnesota in 2018. Boone played collegiately at Cincinnati (2014-17), where he appeared in 39 career games with 11 starts and recorded 420 carries for 2,250 yards (5.4 avg.) and 24 touchdowns, in addition to 65 receptions for 596 yards (9.2 avg.) and one touchdown.

Mattison, who signed with Miami on March 14, 2025, has played in 89 career games with 26 starts in six seasons with Minnesota (2019-2023) and Las Vegas (2024). He has recorded 716 carries for 2,790 rushing yards (3.9 avg.) and 15 touchdowns in his career, along with 136 receptions for 1,012 receiving yards (7.4 avg.) and seven touchdown receptions. Mattison has also appeared in three postseason games with the Vikings. He entered the NFL as a third-round selection (102nd overall) by Minnesota in the 2019 NFL Draft. Mattison played collegiately at Boise State (2016-18), where he appeared in 40 games and recorded 581 carries for 2,829 rushing yards (4.9 avg.) with 33 rushing touchdowns, along with 60 receptions for 511 yards (8.5 avg.) and one receiving touchdown.

Shampklin has appeared in three career games in one season with Pittsburgh (2024), recording six carries for 17 yards (2.8 avg.), in addition to four kickoff returns for 101 yards (25.3 avg.). He also spent time on the practice squad with Indianapolis (2022). Shampklin entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Dallas in 2022. He played collegiately at Harvard (2017-21), where he appeared in 29 games with 19 starts and recorded 2,251 rushing yards on 402 carries (5.6 avg.) with 23 touchdowns, along with 29 receptions for 296 yards (10.2 avg.) and three touchdowns.
