The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed wide receiver Kyric McGowan and linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah and placed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and linebacker David Long Jr. on the active/physically unable to perform list. The team also placed wide receiver Tahj Washington on the reserve/injured list and activated running back Salvon Ahmed and safety Mark Perry off the non-football injury list.
Ahmed was awarded off waivers to Miami on Aug. 26, 2020 and has played in 38 career games with four starts. He's totaled 163 carries for 593 yards (3.6 avg.) and five touchdowns, along with 40 receptions for 274 yards (6.9 avg.) and one touchdown during his four-year career. Ahmed originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with San Francisco on May 1, 2020. He played collegiately at Washington.
Beckham Jr., who signed with Miami on May 7, 2024, enters his 10th NFL season after spending time with the N.Y. Giants (2014-18), Cleveland (2019-21), the L.A. Rams (2021) and Baltimore (2023). He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2014-16), Super Bowl champion (LVI) and was the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Beckham Jr. has played in 110 games with 97 starts, totaling 566 receptions for 7,932 yards (14.0 avg.) and 59 touchdowns. Beckham Jr. also played in seven playoff games with six starts, totaling 29 receptions for 350 yards (12.1 avg.) and two scores. He entered NFL as the 12th overall selection in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the N.Y. Giants and played collegiately at LSU.
Long Jr., who signed with Miami on March 17, 2023, enters his sixth NFL season. He has played in 67 career games with 43 starts. In 2023, he started 17 games with Miami, recording 110 tackles (62 solo), 1.0 sack, one pass defensed and one forced fumble. He also played four seasons with Tennessee (2019-22), appearing in 50 games with 26 starts. He's recorded 333 career tackles (196 solo), four interceptions, 15 passes defensed and three forced fumbles. Long has also appeared in six playoff games with four starts. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (188th overall) by Tennessee in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at West Virginia, where he was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.
McGowan has appeared in two career games with Washington, where he spent the 2022 season and training camp in 2023. He played at Georgia Tech (2021), where he appeared in 11 games with 10 starts and recorded 37 receptions for 467 yards and seven touchdowns during his final collegiate season. He also spent four seasons at Northwestern (2017-20), appearing in 42 games with 27 starts and totaling 66 receptions for 773 yards and two touchdowns. McGowan originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Commanders in 2022.
Ogbah enters his ninth NFL season after spending time with Cleveland (2016-18), Kansas City (2019) and Miami (2020-23). He has played in 107 career games with 71 starts, recording 268 tackles (159 solo), 42.0 sacks, one interception, 39 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. In his four seasons with the Dolphins, he appeared in 57 games with 27 starts and totaled 114 tackles (66 solo), 24.0 sacks, one interception, 19 passes defensed, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Ogbah led the team in sacks in 2020 (9.0) and 2021 (9.0) and was named the team's Nat Moore Community Service Award winner in 2022. Ogbah played collegiately at Oklahoma State University and entered the NFL as a second-round pick (32nd overall) by Cleveland in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Perry signed with Miami as an undrafted college free agent on May 10, 2024. He played his final two collegiate seasons at TCU (2022-23), where he recorded 142 tackles (103 solo), six passes defensed and one forced fumble. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2023 after starting 12 games for the Horned Frogs. Perry transferred from Colorado, where he spent three years (2019-21) and accounted for 91 tackles (63 solo), 2.0 sacks, three interceptions, seven passes defensed, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick. He was also a sprinter on Colorado's Track and Field team.
Washington was selected in the seventh round (241st overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in 39 games with 30 starts during three seasons at Southern California (2021-23), where he caught 163 receptions for 2,449 yards (15.0 avg.) and 15 touchdowns. He was named All-Pac 12 honorable mention in 2022. Washington transferred from Memphis, where he brought in 43 receptions for 743 yards (17.3 avg.) and six touchdowns as a redshirt freshman.
